Caol Ila Moch is a lighter and more accessible interpretation of the classic Caol Ila single malt whisky from the Scottish island of Islay. The name "Moch" comes from the Gaelic and means "dawn", which refers to the fresh and light characteristics of this whisky. In contrast to the distillery's standard, heavily smoky bottlings, the Moch has a finer balance of peat smoke, citrus freshness and elegant sweetness.

Made at the Caol Ila Distillery, which has been producing on the coast of Islay since 1846, this single malt is distilled from peated barley malt and matured in American oak barrels. By dispensing with an age statement, the Moch focuses on a light, fresh and harmonious flavour profile that is exciting for Islay newcomers and experienced whisky lovers alike.

Tasting Note

Colour: Light gold.

Nose: Light peat smoke, fresh citrus notes, green apples, sea salt, subtle sweetness.

Flavour: Soft, slightly sweet, creamy malt, lemon peel, vanilla, gentle smokiness.

Finish: Medium length, dry, slightly spicy, with fine smoke and maritime notes.

Caol Ila Moch is an excellent single malt for anyone who wants to enjoy the typical Islay smokiness in a lighter form. On its own or with a few drops of water, it reveals its full flavour. Its citrus-fresh and maritime notes make it an ideal accompaniment to smoked salmon, oysters or creamy cheese. It also cuts an excellent figure in a whisky sour with a smoky note.
