Description
Mr Jekyll is likely to be a familiar name to lovers of literature and film – but have you heard of Mr Jekyll Absinthe? Inspired by the famous story of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, this greenish, mysterious drink is an extraordinary herbal spirit with an alcohol content of 55 % vol. Produced and distributed by the Berentzen Group in Germany, this absinthe combines a strong wormwood note with a delicate sweetness and gentle aniseed aromas.
Despite its high alcohol content, Mr. Jekyll Absinthe surprises with an astonishing smoothness, making it incredibly versatile – whether enjoyed neat, diluted with water or as a sophisticated ingredient in cocktails. The classic blend of herbs – including wormwood, aniseed, fennel and other botanicals – delivers an intense flavour that captivates both visually and aromatically thanks to the characteristic ‘louche’ effect (a milky cloudiness when mixed with water).
A must-try for anyone who wants to experience the mysterious allure of absinthe and discover a robust yet surprisingly smooth variant. Mr. Jekyll Absinthe – a classic treat with a touch of mystique!
Tasting Note
Colour: Bright, slightly greenish yellow.
Nose: Intense notes of wormwood, fresh aniseed, fennel and subtle herbal spice.
Palate: Aromatic, spicy, slightly sweet, strong aniseed, subtle bitter notes, gentle herbal and fresh accents.
Finish: Long, mildly bitter with sweet herbal notes.
Mr. Jekyll Absinthe can be prepared in the traditional way by slowly diluting it with ice-cold water and a sugar cube over an absinthe spoon. Alternatively, it is excellent as an ingredient in cocktails such as the Death in the Afternoon (with champagne) or a classic Sazerac (with whisky and Peychaud’s Bitters).
Its fresh, herbal and slightly sweet flavours also make it an exciting choice for long drinks with bitter lemon or tonic water. It can also be used as a special ingredient in cooking – whether for desserts, chocolates or as an aromatic component in sauces.
