Mellow Corn Kentucky Straight Corn Whisky is a true rarity amongst American whiskies. It belongs to the rare category of Straight Corn Whiskies, which must contain at least 81 per cent maize in the mash. Produced by the Heaven Hill Distillery, Mellow Corn offers a mild, sweet yet robust flavour profile with an alcohol content of 50 per cent by volume (100 proof).

A distinctive feature of this whisky is its ageing for four years in used ex-bourbon casks, which gives it a smoother woody note than classic bourbons aged in new casks. This preserves the natural sweetness of the maize and brings out soft vanilla and caramel flavours. Its distinctive yellow label design makes it instantly recognisable, and its unique profile clearly sets it apart from bourbon or rye whisky.

Tasting Note

Colour: Pale gold.

Nose: Sweet maize, vanilla, roasted grain, light hints of honey, subtle spice.

Palate: Full-bodied, sweet, with notes of caramel, toffee, roasted maize and gentle oaky spice.

Finish: Lang, warm, slightly spicy, with sweet notes of vanilla and grain.

Thanks to its high maize content and pleasant sweetness, Mellow Corn is ideal for enjoying neat or on the rocks. With its robust 50% ABV, it is also an excellent choice for classic whisky cocktails such as the Whisky Sour, Old Fashioned or Manhattan.

Culinary pairings include BBQ dishes, grilled meat and caramelised desserts. Its sweet and spicy notes also make it an interesting accompaniment to mature cheeses or nutty snacks.
