Plymouth Original Strength Dry Gin is a premium, traditional gin that has been produced since 1793 at the famous Black Friars Distillery in Plymouth, England. This distillery is England’s oldest continuously operating gin distillery and has a long history of producing first-class gins. With an alcohol content of 41.2% ABV and a smooth, perfectly balanced blend of botanicals, this gin offers a softer and slightly earthier flavour profile than classic London Dry Gins.

Its unique recipe is based on just seven hand-selected botanicals, including juniper, coriander, cardamom, angelica root, orange peel, lemon peel and orris root. This combination gives Plymouth Gin a slightly sweet, fruity note with spicy and earthy undertones. Its particularly smooth character makes it ideal for both classic cocktails and drinking neat. Plymouth Gin has historically been closely associated with the British Royal Navy and was long regarded as the officers’ gin of choice.

Tasting Note

Colour: Crystal clear.

Nose: Pronounced juniper with delicate citrus notes, earthy spices and a hint of sweetness.

Palate: Smooth and well-balanced with fresh citrus fruits, gentle juniper notes, spicy cardamom and a subtle sweetness.

Finish: Pleasantly dry, slightly spicy and long-lasting.

Plymouth Original Strength Dry Gin is an excellent choice for classic gin cocktails such as gin and tonic, Martini or Negroni. It pairs particularly well with Mediterranean tonic water and a garnish of lemon zest or a sprig of rosemary. Its gentle spiciness and slight sweetness pair superbly with seafood, oysters or fresh antipasti. It also reveals its complex aroma when served with a selection of savoury cheeses or fine chocolate creations.
