The Mannochmore 16 Years Old from Signatory Vintage’s exclusive Symington’s Choice range is an expressive single cask bottling, distilled in 2008 and bottled at cask strength at 54.5 % vol. A particular highlight is the finish in a Pedro Ximénez sherry hogshead (Cask #6), which lends the whisky intense depth, fruity sweetness and spicy complexity.

The Mannochmore distillery, situated in Speyside, Scotland, is known for its rather rare original bottlings – which is why independent bottlings such as this one are in particularly high demand. The combination of classic Speyside lightness and the dark aromatics of the PX sherry cask makes this whisky a powerful delight with a multi-layered profile. Like all bottlings in the Symington’s Choice Linie, this one is also non-chill-filtered and uncoloured – ensuring an authentic tasting experience.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark copper with a mahogany sheen.

Nose: Ripe dates, raisins, dark chocolate, sweet sherry, spicy oak and a hint of orange peel.

Palate: Full-bodied and powerful with notes of dried fruit, caramel, muscovado sugar, oaky spice and subtle liquorice.

Finish: Lang, intense and warming with sherry sweetness, dark fruits and a lingering presence of oak.

Ideal neat or with a few drops of water to open up the flavours. Perfect with dark chocolate, dried fruit, tangy cheese or as an accompaniment to a cigar. Also a highlight for cask-strength tastings and particularly interesting as a collector’s item in the sherry cask category. A characterful Speyside malt for lovers of intense cask maturation.
