Lillet Rosé

A real newcomer to the range is Lillet Rosé 17% ABV 0.75l, which has only been available since 2011. It is based on white wine, which takes on its delicate rosé colour through the addition of a little red wine. The aromas of wild berries, oranges and cinchona bark give this fortified wine a special touch. The colour is reminiscent of a grapefruit and creates a visually fruity and fresh atmosphere. As Lillet Rosé is not aged in barrels, it remains particularly fresh and sparkling. It should be served well chilled, ideally with a few ice cubes and a slice of grapefruit to perfectly round off the taste experience.

Lillet Rouge

Whilst the classic Lillet is known for its light colour, Lillet Rouge 17% ABV 0.75l is aimed at red wine lovers. Since 1962 , this variety has delighted with its red wine base and a robust, tart flavour. The ruby-red colour and the aromas of red fruits, oranges and vanilla complement each other perfectly. This liqueur is best served slightly chilled with a slice of orange to enjoy the full flavour.

Lillet Blanc

Lillet Blanc 17% ABV 0.75l is not only the origin of the liqueur wine but also the secret to the company’s success. Made from a blend of white wines that are harmoniously balanced, it offers a unique aroma and taste experience. Lillet Blanc is aged in oak barrels and finished with oranges and cinchona bark. The brothers Raymond and Paul Lillet from the small town of Podensac created the aperitif in 1872. To this day, fans of this particularly aromatic aperitif can enjoy the same flavours once savoured by the scandal-shrouded Duchess of Windsor, Wallis Simpson, or Jacqueline Kennedy. It was already popular during the ‘Roaring Twenties’, and in the 1950s it went on to conquer both the European and US markets. Over the decades, the aperitif has also been immortalised by various novelists and screenwriters: both secret agent James Bond and Hannibal Lecter, the monster from ‘The Silence of the Lambs’, were great admirers of their Lillet aperitif. Lillet is a blend of 85 per cent wine and 15 per cent fruit liqueur. All the wines used come from the Bordeaux region. Whilst only red grape varieties are used for the Rouge, white grapes are used for the Lillet Rosé and Blanc varieties. For the macerates, the producers at Maison Lillet in Podensac combine fruits and bark from Morocco, Haiti, southern Spain and Peru. In a process lasting several weeks, the precious aromas are extracted from the ingredients using alcohol. In addition to the classic golden Blanc, the aperitif is available as a Rosé and a Rouge.
