Knappogue Castle 14 Years Old Twin Wood is a single malt Irish whisky that combines the brand’s tradition with the influence of two classic cask types. The whisky was distilled at the Old Bushmills Distillery and matured for a total of 14 years. Both ex-bourbon casks and Oloroso sherry casks are used in the Twin Wood blend. This bottling thus builds on the history of the famous Knappogue Castle 1951 and its association with sherry cask maturation. The combination of American-style bourbon casks and Spanish Oloroso sherry casks lends this 14-year-old Irish whisky additional complexity, without masking its fruity and malty character.


The Knappogue Castle 14 Years Twin Wood is bottled at a robust 46% ABV. The whisky is not chill-filtered and contains no colouring, thereby preserving its natural character. Within the Knappogue Castle range, the Twin Wood thus stands out as a more complex alternative to the 12-year-old expression, which is matured exclusively in bourbon casks. The combination of 14 years’ maturation, bourbon casks and Oloroso sherry casks ensures a balanced interplay of fruit, malt, vanilla and wood. Tasting Note

Colour: Golden amber with warm highlights.

The Knappogue Castle 14 Years Old Twin Wood is best enjoyed neat at around 18–20 °C, although a few drops of still water can bring out additional fruit and cask notes. It pairs well with mature Cheddar, roasted almonds, apple or apricot desserts, and vanilla-flavoured pastries. This fruity, malty whisky also offers an interesting contrast to mildly spiced poultry or air-dried ham.
