Monkey 47 Black Forest Dry Gin is a premium gin renowned for its exceptional quality and unique flavour profile. It is named after its 47 botanical ingredients, which are sourced from the Black Forest region in Germany, specifically from the Black Forest itself. The gin is produced by the Monkey 47 Distillery in the small town of Loßburg.

Monkey 47 is produced using a complex and time-consuming distillation process. The base of the gin is made from molasses, and the botanicals are steeped in pure molasses spirit for several days. The mixture is then distilled in small batches in traditional copper stills to allow the flavours to develop and blend together.

The botanical recipe for Monkey 47 is a closely guarded secret, but it includes a wide variety of ingredients from all over the world. These include traditional gin botanicals such as juniper berries, coriander and angelica root, as well as unique ingredients such as lingonberries, acacia blossoms, spruce shoots and blackberries.

Monkey 47 is presented in a distinctive and elegant bottle, whose label is adorned with a monkey motif. The number 47 not only refers to the number of botanicals, but also pays homage to a story from the 1940s, when an Englishman named Montgomery Collins developed the original recipe for the gin.
