Description
Description
Set against the picturesque landscape of Riegersburg in Styria, Alois Gölles is the third generation to run his family’s long-established fruit-growing business. After graduating from the renowned Higher Federal College for Viticulture and Fruit Growing in Klosterneuburg, he devoted himself to refining his parents’ harvest of apples, pears, plums and peaches. He began distilling fine brandies in 1979, followed by the establishment of his workshop for high-quality vinegar in 1984. Today, the range comprises around twenty fine brandies and just as many varieties of vinegar, all of which regularly receive recognition.
Gölles Alte Marille apricot brandy is aged for 8 years in oak barrels and is closely linked to Austria’s fruit-growing tradition. It is produced mainly from the ‘Ungarische Beste’ or ‘Wachauer Marille’ varieties, which are grown in Central Burgenland. This base is complemented by a selection of modern varieties from Styria. The fully ripe apricots are harvested every year in July to ensure the high quality and intense aroma of the apricot brandy.
