The Old Ballantruan 10 Years Old The Peated Malt is a powerful, peaty single malt whisky from Speyside in Scotland, which stands out distinctly from the typical, rather mild whiskies of this region. Produced at the Tomintoul Distillery, which is renowned for its smooth, elegant malts, Old Ballantruan is the smoky exception – named after a spring in Ballantruan Glen, from which the distilling water is sourced.

Heavily peated malts are used for this 10-year-old bottling, giving the whisky its distinctive smokiness. At the same time, the long maturation in American oak casks lends it depth, structure and a harmonious balance between smoke, sweetness and oak. The whisky is bottled at a robust 50 % ABV, naturally non-chill-filtered and without colouring – an authentic malt with character for fans of smoky whiskies.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden amber.

Nose: Intense, with sweet peated smoke, vanilla, oak, citrus and slightly earthy notes.

Palate: Full-bodied, oily and powerful with a smoky opening, honey, roasted almonds, pepper and a hint of caramel.

Finish: Long, smoky and spicy, with a lingering aftertaste of dry oak and sweet smoke.
