Smokehead RUM REBEL Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a limited-edition Islay bottling that combines Smokehead’s intensely smoky style with an exceptional rum cask finish. The Smokehead brand forms part of the portfolio of the Scottish family-run company Ian Macleod Distillers, whilst the exact distillery from which this Islay-distilled single malt originates has not been officially disclosed. Following its initial maturation, the whisky is finished in ex-rum casks, which complements the characteristic peaty smoke with sweeter, exotic and fruity notes. This combination of Islay peat smoke and rum cask influence creates a striking contrast between smoke, maritime notes and caramelised fruit.

The Smokehead Rum Rebel Limited Edition is bottled at a robust 46% ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured, thereby preserving the whisky’s original character. The rum cask finish complements the robust Islay profile with notes of toasted marshmallows, candied and tropical fruits, as well as spicy and slightly savoury accents. In this version, the Smokehead Rum Rebel is presented in a tin box, whose brand-specific design protects the bottle and further emphasises the limited edition’s appeal as a collector’s item and gift. Tasting Note

Colour: Rich gold with warm amber highlights.

Nose: Intense peaty smoke meets toasted marshmallows and candied fruit, accompanied by a slightly savoury hint of bacon and sweetish oak notes.

Palate: Powerful and complex with dense smoke, spices and caramelised tropical fruits such as banana, complemented by sweet rum cask aromas and maritime nuances.

Finish: Medium-long to long-lasting and multi-faceted, with peaty smoke, spices, tropical fruit sweetness and maritime notes.

The Smokehead Rum Rebel in a tin box is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at around 18 to 20 °C, although a few drops of still water can further open up the robust smoky and rum cask character.
