Bozal Single Maguey TOBASICHE Mezcal Artesanal 47% vol. 0.7 l online kaufen
Bozal Single Maguey Tobasiche Mezcal combines traditional craftsmanship from Oaxaca with the unique characteristics of the Agave karwinskii, from whose wild variety, Tobasiche, this mezcal is produced. The plant takes around twelve to thirteen years to reach full maturity, which significantly shapes its intense, herbaceous profile. Tobasiche is renowned for its herbal, cedar-like aromas and an earthy finish that reflects the natural depth of this agave variety. This mezcal is produced in Río de Ejutla, Oaxaca, using traditional methods that have been passed down unchanged for over two hundred years. The agave hearts are cooked in earthen pits, then ground using a stone tahona and fermented using natural wild yeasts in an open fermentation process, before undergoing double distillation in copper stills.
This single-maguey mezcal represents an authentic, artisanal style that expresses the essence of wild agaves with particular clarity. The combination of mineral notes, a subtle sweetness and rich, herbaceous accents gives Bozal Tobasiche its distinctive character. The earth-coloured ceramic bottle with its natural-fibre label is reminiscent of traditional terracotta copitas and emphasises the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship. The name Bozal, which means ‘wild’ or ‘untamed’ in Spanish, refers both to the original growing regions and to the authentic production methods of the local mezcaleros.
Tasting Note
Colour: Clear, with a silvery sheen.
Nose: Quince, aniseed, sweet notes and distinct minerality.
Palate: Rich and herbaceous, with herbal, cedar-like flavours and an earthy finish.
Finish: Long-lasting, spicy and mineral, with a clear structure.
This Bozal Tobasiche Mezcal pairs excellently with savoury dishes such as grilled vegetables, maize tortillas with herbs or lightly smoked fish, as its herbal spice and minerality elegantly complement these flavours. It is equally well suited to fresh salsas, lime marinades or spicy Mexican dishes, which bring out its aromatic depth. When paired with dark chocolate with salt or chilli, it creates an exciting contrast between sweetness and spice. Served neat, it showcases its complex structure most impressively and is ideal for traditional mezcal-style tasting experiences.
