The Ardbeg AN OA Islay Single Malt is a full-bodied Islay single malt Scotch whisky, 46.6% ABV, in a 1-litre bottle, presented in a high-quality gift box. Named after the remote An Oa peninsula on Islay, this bottling offers a slightly softer yet multi-layered interpretation of the characteristic Ardbeg style. The whisky is blended from distillates aged in lightly charred new oak casks, Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and ex-bourbon casks. The final blending takes place in a specially developed ‘Gathering Vat’, which harmoniously brings together the different cask characters. The whisky is bottled without chill filtration, thereby retaining its natural texture and full character. At the 2019 International Whisky Competition, the Ardbeg AN OA won several awards – including Best Single Malt NAS, Best Islay Single Malt and Best Peated Whisky.


Compared to the classic Ardbeg Ten, the Ardbeg AN OA is slightly fruitier and spicier, without losing its unmistakable Islay character. The combination of different cask types creates a balanced interplay of sweet, spicy and smoky notes, lending the whisky exceptional depth. This makes this bottling ideal for both long-standing Ardbeg fans and connoisseurs looking to discover a harmonious and complex peated single malt.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden amber.

Nose: Soft fruity notes, subtle peat smoke, tobacco, orange, citrus fruits and milk chocolate.

Palate: Spicy and sweet with chocolate cream, oaky notes, soft fruity notes, peaty smoke and a full body.

Finish: Long-lasting, silky with smoke, aniseed and malty notes.

The Ardbeg AN OA Islay Single Malt reveals its flavours best when enjoyed neat or with a few drops of still water. It pairs superbly with smoked salmon, BBQ ribs, mature Cheddar, blue cheese, dark chocolate or roasted nuts. The combination of Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, bourbon casks, new oak casks and blending in the Gathering Vat gives this Islay single malt its balanced and multi-layered character.
