This edition is crafted from selected distillates that are first aged for at least 12 years in ex-white oak casks. This is followed by a further two years’ maturation in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, resulting in a total maturation period of at least 14 years. The sweet, concentrated character of the Pedro Ximénez sherry adds further depth to the long initial maturation. With a robust 47 per cent ABV, the Ambassador retains an intense and structured character that clearly positions it within the Diplomático range.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark amber with mahogany-coloured highlights.

Nose: Intense and complex, with candied fruit, vanilla and spices, accompanied by a piquant peppery note and subtle oak smoke.

Palate: Dense and finely structured with creamy vanilla, dark chocolate and sweet fruit, complemented by coffee, spices and subtle notes of wood smoke.

Finish: Exceptionally long-lasting and warming, with powerful spice, silky fruit sweetness and elegant lingering woody notes.

Due to its long maturation and Pedro Ximénez sherry cask finish, the Diplomático Ambassador Selection is best enjoyed neat at room temperature in a suitable nosing or rum glass. If desired, a few drops of still water can help to open up the robust 47% ABV and bring out further nuances. Suitable accompaniments include dark chocolate with a high cocoa content, roasted nuts, dried fruit or mature hard cheese.
