The Craigellachie 13 Years Old Armagnac Cask Finish is a special bottling from the traditional Speyside distillery Craigellachie, which is known for its robust, full-bodied whiskies. This exclusive edition was initially matured for 13 years in traditional oak casks before being finished in selected Armagnac casks. This gives the whisky exceptional depth and a harmonious combination of the typical Craigellachie spiciness and the fruity, elegant notes of French Armagnac.

The distillery, founded in 1891, relies on traditional methods, including the use of worm tub condensers, which ensure a strong, oily mouthfeel. The Armagnac finish adds complexity to the whisky with notes of dried fruit, spicy oak and a hint of honey. The whisky is bottled at 46% vol., non-chill-filtered and without colouring to preserve the natural flavour as much as possible.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden amber.

Nose: Fruity aromas of apricots, honey and dried fruit with subtle oak and spice notes.

Taste: Full-bodied and spicy with notes of caramelised apples, vanilla, almonds and a hint of spices from the Armagnac cask.

Finish: Long-lasting, slightly dry with a combination of honey sweetness and woody spice.

The Craigellachie 13 Years Old Armagnac Cask Finish is ideal for drinking neat, ideally with a few drops of water to open up the flavours further. It harmonises perfectly with mature cheese, dark chocolate or dried fruit. Alternatively, it can be used in elegant whisky cocktails such as a whisky sour with honey for a sophisticated flavour note.
