The Kavalan SOLIST Manzanilla Cask expands the expressive range of the Kavalan Distillery, whose whiskies are renowned worldwide for their musically inspired names and their multi-faceted aroma profiles. Series such as Solist and Concertmaster have established themselves internationally and reflect the diversity of Taiwanese whisky production. This single cask bottling is matured in selected Manzanilla sherry casks, which originate from the immediate coastal area and thus offer particularly favourable conditions for maturation under flor yeast. The resulting style is similar to a Fino sherry, yet exhibits an even more delicate, mineral-driven texture with a subtle salty nuance.


The whisky is bottled as a genuine single cask and is presented at natural cask strength of 58.6 per cent by volume; it is, of course, unchill-filtered and contains no colouring. Thanks to Taiwan’s tropical climate, this Manzanilla Cask Single Malt matures with exceptional intensity, resulting in a complex structure characterised by a combination of sea breeze, the influence of flor yeast and the cask’s character. Presented in an elegant wooden box, it underlines the exclusive nature of this limited edition and makes it a special highlight within the Solist range.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark golden amber.

Nose: Fruity complexity with honeydew melon, toffee, cocoa, cider and maritime, slightly salty notes.

Palate: Well-balanced body with a delicate saltiness, intense sweetness, vanilla, orange, melon and fresh mint.

Finish: Long-lasting and complex, with fruity depth and subtle minerality.

This Kavalan Solist Manzanilla Cask pairs superbly with Mediterranean dishes such as mildly marinated fish, creamy burrata or seafood risotto, as its subtle saltiness and fruity elegance perfectly complement these flavours. It also pairs well with light desserts such as lemon tart, honeydew melon sorbet or delicate vanilla cream, which complement its fresh texture. It creates a particularly harmonious contrast with mild cheeses such as young Manchego or soft Brie. Served neat, it reveals its maritime character most intensely and is ideal for quiet moments of indulgence in the evening.
