The Ole Smoky Distillery in the Smoky Mountains has a rich history stretching back over a century, beginning with the region’s first settlers. Despite this long-standing tradition, the production of moonshine was not always legal until a change in the law in Tennessee made it possible to open the first state-licensed distillery in Gatlinburg.
