The Deanston Kentucky Cask Matured Highland Single Malt is a high-quality and pleasantly approachable whisky from the Scottish Highlands. Produced at the historic Deanston Distillery, housed in a former cotton mill dating from 1785, this single malt embodies the distillery’s philosophy: natural ingredients, artisanal production and unpeated whiskies with authentic character.

Since its foundation in 1965, Deanston has gone through various phases, from its launch under the name Old Bannockburn to its subsequent rebranding under Burn Stewart Distillers. This bottling is a wonderful example of the distillery’s elegant, mellow and sweet style. The whisky is matured in first- and second-fill ex-bourbon casks that previously held Kentucky bourbon.

Tasting Note

Colour: Pale gold.

Nose: Fresh notes of honey, vanilla and citrus fruits with a hint of oak.

Palate: Light and smooth with flavours of sweet malt, caramel, toffee and a subtle spiciness from the oak.

Finish: Medium-length with a pleasant balance of sweetness and gentle spice.

The Deanston Kentucky Cask Matured is ideal for enjoying neat or on the rocks. Its light, sweet flavours also make it the perfect base for whisky highballs, whisky sours or a mint julep. It pairs particularly well with toasted almonds, caramel desserts or mild cheeses, which bring out its vanilla and honey notes.
