Description
Description
The Cocchi Barolo Chinato 16.5% ABV, in a 0.5-litre bottle with a gift box, is a traditional fortified wine from Piedmont, based on fine Barolo DOCG and one of Italy’s best-known specialities. Its history dates back to Giulio Cocchi, whose original recipe played a decisive role in popularising Barolo Chinato. Through the use of the famous Barolo wine, this creation quickly established itself as a particularly high-quality speciality amongst wines refined with cinchona bark.
To produce Cocchi Barolo Chinato, Barolo DOCG is flavoured with carefully selected botanicals such as Calisaya cinchona bark, rhubarb root, gentian flowers and cardamom seeds. The botanical ingredients are extracted through slow maceration at room temperature, allowing the complex characteristics of the ingredients to unfold harmoniously. The resulting aromatised wine impresses with its classic combination of bitterness and sweetness, as well as its elegant structure. Originally firmly rooted in Piedmontese tradition, Barolo Chinato is now particularly prized as a high-quality digestif and as an accompaniment to exceptional moments of indulgence. The elegant gift box also makes this speciality a stylish gift idea for lovers of Italian wine tradition.
Tasting Note
In the glass, the Cocchi Barolo Chinato displays a deep ruby red colour with dark highlights. On the nose, complex aromas of aromatic herbs, delicate spices, cinchona bark, dark fruits and balsamic notes unfold. On the palate, this fortified wine is harmonious and well-balanced, with an elegant interplay of sweet and bitter elements, spicy accents and intense depth. The finish is long-lasting, multi-layered and characterised by a pleasant herbal and spicy profile.
Cocchi Barolo Chinato is ideal as an elegant digestif, served at room temperature or slightly warmed with a twist of orange zest. It pairs particularly well with dark chocolate with a high cocoa content, pralines and fine chocolate desserts. This Italian Barolo Chinato from Piedmont is also an excellent choice as a special finale to a meal or as a high-quality gift idea for connoisseurs.
