The Octomore 14.2 is distilled from 100 per cent Scottish Mainland Concerto barley with an impressive peat content of 128.9 ppm and forms part of Octomore’s Heavily Peated range.

Adam Hannett, the chief distiller, has the privilege of choosing from a wide range of over 200 different cask types. For the Octomore 14.2, he made a decision that was as bold as it was masterful. He selected ex-Oloroso and Amarone casks from the most renowned wine-growing regions of Spain and Italy. These casks impart a nutty sweetness that provides an exciting contrast to the Octomore’s intense peaty smokiness. The final blending, following five years’ maturation, took place in French oak to lend this single malt depth and complexity. This whisky is bottled without the addition of colouring agents and without chill filtration.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark amber.

Nose: Notes of plums, redcurrants and green apples, barley malt, leathery notes, toasted oak, hints of cinnamon and black pepper.

Palate: Dry, with spicy nuances, toasted oak, roasted coffee beans, ripe apples and pears.

Finish: Long-lasting, with notes of smoked malt, charcoal and sea salt.
