Tomatin Legacy Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky comes from the historic Tomatin Distillery in the Scottish Highlands and showcases the distillery’s characteristically smooth and fruity style, with no age statement. For its maturation, Tomatin relies on a combination of ex-bourbon casks and virgin American oak casks. Whilst the ex-bourbon casks primarily bring out soft vanilla and fruity notes, the fresh oak adds extra spice and structure to the single malt. The Tomatin Distillery was founded in 1897 and is situated south of Inverness in the Highlands. The Legacy was conceived as an accessible expression of the distillery, combining its distinctive character with a clear influence of American oak.

At 43% ABV in the 0.7-litre bottle, the Tomatin Legacy Single Malt is bottled at a slightly higher strength than many classic entry-level expressions. The combination of bourbon casks and virgin oak ensures a balanced interplay of fresh fruit, vanilla and spicy oak. As a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky with no age statement, the Legacy focuses less on a specific maturation period and more on a carefully selected cask composition. To achieve this, Tomatin combines exclusively malt whiskies from its own distillery, which is why it is unambiguously a single malt and not a blended whisky. The Tomatin Legacy is therefore ideal both as an introduction to the Highland distillery’s range and for lovers of uncomplicated, fruity single malts with American oak influence.

Tasting Note

Colour: Pale gold.

Nose: Fresh and lively with vanilla, citrus fruits and pineapple, accompanied by subtle floral and sweet notes.

Palate: Light and well-balanced with fresh lemon, pineapple and vanilla, complemented by a subtle sweetness and spicy oak notes.

Finish: Clean and pleasantly lingering with fresh fruit, vanilla and a subtle, lingering hint of oak.

Tomatin Legacy is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at room temperature, but can also be served on the rocks or with a few drops of water. In terms of food pairings, mild hard cheeses, roasted nuts, vanilla pastries or desserts featuring lemon and apple complement its fruity, fresh character. Thanks to its approachable style, this single malt is also ideal for classic whisky highballs.
