Mortlach Distillery, founded in 1823, is one of the oldest and most renowned distilleries in Scotland’s Speyside region. Known as ‘The Beast of Dufftown’, Mortlach has made a name for itself with its uniquely complex and full-bodied single malts. The distillery uses an unusual 2.81-fold distillation process, which gives the whiskies their characteristic depth and complexity.

Since 2001, a limited-edition collection of exquisitely crafted Scotch whisky original bottlings at their natural cask strength has been released every year – Diageo’s SPECIAL RELEASES.

With the latest instalment of the Special Releases, ‘Spirited Xchange’, we are delighted to celebrate the newest bottlings in this special series, which is inspired by cultural influences from various countries and brings leading brands to life through unique partnerships with different cultures.

This Mortlach Midnight Dusk Single Malt was initially matured in refill and ex-bourbon American oak casks before undergoing its special finishing in rare Ramandolo white wine and Sangiovese red wine casks. Bottled at natural cask strength, this lively and multi-layered Speyside whisky captivates with its extraordinary depth and aromatic intensity. The artfully designed outer packaging lends this limited edition its exclusive character, making it the ideal collector’s item or gift.

Tasting Note

Colour: Gold.

Nose: Mild, with exotic fruit notes of mango, lychee and lemon, vanilla and creamy caramel.

Palate: Creamy, slightly sweet, with peppery undertones.

Finish: Medium-length, dry, warm and spicy, with fruity acidity.
