The Kingsbarns Distillery is situated in the fertile Kingdom of Fife, also known as the breadbasket of Scotland, and is run by the Wemyss family. This family has made a name for itself in the world of whisky not only as distillery owners, but also as a respected independent bottler. Drawing on their many years of experience and expertise, the Wemyss family continues its tradition of producing high-quality whiskies that appeal to connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike.

The Distillery Reserve 2024 is Kingsbarns Distillery’s most mature whisky to date, a limited-edition, cask-strength single malt matured exclusively in ex-Oloroso sherry casks. With only 3,000 bottles available, this whisky embodies the distillery’s characteristic Lowland style, which is characterised by lively fruity notes and delicate floral aromas.

Six American oak sherry butts, renowned for their rich, fruity and complex character, were selected for the maturation. This special selection of casks and the careful maturation process give the whisky a deep, rich colour and a complex flavour profile, making it an excellent choice for connoisseurs of sherry-matured whiskies.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark copper-gold.

Nose: Ripe dried fruit, figs, raisins, toffee and toasted nuts with a hint of orange peel.

Palate: Full-bodied, robust and rounded with sherry sweetness, dark chocolate, spices, oak and dates.

Finish: Lang, spicy and slightly dry with notes of leather, muscovado sugar and nutty flavours.

Best enjoyed neat at room temperature or with a few drops of water to allow the complexity of the sherry finish to unfold. Ideal for experienced whisky connoisseurs and collectors of limited-edition bottlings. Culinary pairings include mature cheeses, game terrines and savoury pastries, as well as dark chocolate, coffee-based desserts or fig tart.
