The Stefanshof Blauer Zweigelt 2023 is a classic, fruit-forward red wine that impressively reflects the blend of tradition and modern winemaking. The Stefanshof, widely known for breeding the noble Lippizaner horses, has also built an excellent reputation in Austrian viticulture since 1890. On 84 hectares of vineyards, under the management of Stefan Haller, who has run the estate since 1998, authentic, characterful wines are now produced that combine regional typicity with the highest quality.

The Blauer Zweigelt is one of the estate’s flagship wines and is vinified from 100 % fully ripe Blauer Zweigelt grapes. Careful maturation takes place in stainless steel tanks to perfectly preserve the primary fruit, freshness and typical juiciness of this flagship Austrian grape variety. The wine is then gently bottled and fitted with a practical screw cap, which preserves its freshness over the long term. With a pleasantly moderate alcohol content of 12.5 % Vol., this Zweigelt is an approachable, easy-drinking choice for many occasions.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Stefanshof Blauer Zweigelt displays a pale straw-yellow colour with slight green highlights. On the nose, it unfolds a delicate, fruity bouquet of green apples – fresh and inviting. On the palate, the wine is lively and juicy, underpinned by a fresh, invigorating acidity that lends it lightness and makes it a joy to drink. Overall, it is very easy-drinking and uncomplicated, perfect for relaxed enjoyment.

This Zweigelt is an excellent, versatile accompaniment to light Austrian cuisine, grilled poultry, pasta with light sauces or summer salads. It also pairs wonderfully with a traditional Heurigen snack of spreads and mild cheese. Served slightly chilled, it is an ideal wine for spring and summer – perfect for evenings on the terrace or casual get-togethers.
