The Antinori Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2022 is one of the most important red wines in Italy and a true flagship of modern viticulture in Tuscany. This iconic wine comes from the renowned Tenuta Guado al Tasso winery in Bolgheri, in the heart of the Maremma on the Tuscan coast, where the combination of maritime breezes, a sunny microclimate and poor, well-drained soils create the best conditions for international grape varieties.

The cuvée typically consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and occasionally a small proportion of Petit Verdot. In the 2022 vintage, this resulted in a particularly elegant and profound wine with a pronounced structure, complexity and ageing potential. The wine is matured for around 18 months in French barriques, which gives the wine additional depth, velvety tannins and a finely spiced aroma spectrum. The Guado al Tasso is the Tenuta's flagship - a Super Tuscan with aristocratic charisma and international appeal.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Guado al Tasso is a dense ruby red colour with violet reflections. The nose is intense and complex, with aromas of ripe dark berries, black cherry, plum, fine wood, cedar smoke, liquorice and fine dark chocolate. Full-bodied, dense yet elegant on the palate, with fine-grained tannins, a perfect balance between fruit, spice and freshness and a long, mineral finish that promises plenty of potential for further development.

An excellent accompaniment to matured beef, braised lamb, game dishes with dark jus, truffle dishes or matured hard cheeses. Also a meditative and enjoyable wine on its own for special occasions or as a highlight in an upmarket wine collection. Ready to drink immediately, with further potential until at least 2040.
