Description
Description
The Gérard Bertrand LA CLAPE An1650 2023 14 % Vol. 0.75 l is an expressive red wine from the Languedoc, which impressively combines elegance, power and the Mediterranean spirit of southern France. This wine comes from the sun-drenched slopes of the historic La Clape appellation, a former island massif situated in the immediate vicinity of the Mediterranean Sea. The region is now considered one of France’s most exciting terroirs and, thanks to the ideal combination of limestone soils, sea breezes and dry conditions, produces wines with particularly distinctive character.
The 2023 vintage of LA CLAPE An1650 is in excellent form. The cuvée, predominantly made up of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre, reflects Gérard Bertrand’s philosophy: biodynamic cultivation, gentle vinification and an uncompromising commitment to quality. With its deep aromas, robust structure and a long, elegant finish, this French red wine is the perfect companion for special moments of indulgence. The robust 14 % vol. alcohol content lends it body and depth without compromising its balance – a red wine for connoisseurs and lovers of top-quality Mediterranean wines.
Tasting Note
In the glass, the Gérard Bertrand LA CLAPE An1650 displays a deep, dark ruby red colour with violet highlights. The bouquet is intense and complex, characterised by ripe black fruit, dark cherries, subtle spice, liquorice and delicate toasted notes. On the palate, it is powerful and well-structured, with ripe tannins, complex depth and a long, velvety finish that reveals nuances of chocolate, garrigue herbs and dark berry fruit.
The Gérard Bertrand LA CLAPE An1650 is the ideal wine for special evenings, festive dinners, gourmet menus or autumnal moments of indulgence. Thanks to its structure and aromatics, it pairs superbly with grilled beef, lamb chops, braised game or duck breast. It also reveals its full potential when paired with hearty Mediterranean dishes featuring herbs, ratatouille or mature hard cheese. In modern cuisine, it can be paired with truffle risotto, braised aubergine or dark chocolate sauce served with game birds. Best served at around 16–18 °C – preferably decanted 30 minutes beforehand.
