Talisker 10 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the classic expression of the Talisker Distillery on the Isle of Skye and embodies a distinctive maritime, smoky and spicy island style. The distillery was founded in 1830 and is situated on the shores of Loch Harport, surrounded by the rugged landscape of the Scottish Hebrides. Talisker expresses this close connection to the sea through its motto, ‘Made by the Sea’. The whisky is double-distilled and matured for at least 10 years in American oak casks. During the long cask maturation, the characteristic smoke blends with malty sweetness, spicy notes and maritime accents to create a powerful single malt whisky from the Isle of Skye.

A particularly defining feature of the Talisker 10 Years Old is its distinctive peppery heat, often described as the distillery’s characteristic ‘chilli catch’. With an alcohol content of 45.8%, this bottling has a robust structure without losing the balance between smoke, malt, fruit and maritime spice. The 10-year-old Talisker single malt is available in a 0.7-litre bottle and is one of the best-known bottlings from the Scottish island regions. The packaging has also been redesigned to minimise the use of plastic. As a result, the Talisker 10 Years combines traditional distillery character and long-term cask maturation with a more contemporary product presentation.

Tasting Note

Colour: Warm gold with amber highlights.

Nose: Salty, smoky and robust with maritime notes, seawater and a fresh, lemony sweetness, accompanied by malt and subtle peat smoke.

Palate: Powerful and well-balanced with sweet barley malt, smoke and dried fruit, followed by an intense, characteristic note of pepper and spices.

Finish: Long-lasting, intense and warming with pepper, smoke, maritime spice and the typical Talisker ‘Chilli Catch’.

Talisker 10 Years Old is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at around 18 to 20 °C, although a few drops of still water can bring out additional smoky, fruity and spicy nuances. Oysters, smoked salmon, grilled fish or strong hard cheese pair particularly well with its salty, maritime character. BBQ dishes and smoked meats also complement the whisky’s smoky and peppery notes. Dark chocolate, on the other hand, offers a robust, slightly bitter contrast to the malty sweetness and spicy texture.
