The Ron Zacapa Centenario SOLERA Gran Reserva is an internationally recognised premium rum from Guatemala, which is known for its elaborate production and exceptional ageing method. Produced in the high altitudes of Guatemala at around 2,300 metres above sea level, this Solera rum matures under ideal climatic conditions that allow it to develop particularly slowly and evenly. The base is not classic molasses rum, but so-called "Virgin Sugar Cane Honey", a concentrated sugar cane juice that gives the Guatemala rum its characteristic depth.

The rum is matured using the traditional Sistema Solera method, in which different ageing stages are married together. The Zacapa 23 Solera Gran Reserva, as it is often referred to, is aged in a combination of former bourbon, sherry and Pedro Ximénez barrels. This multi-stage maturation process ensures complexity, structure and harmony. Bottled at 40%, this Solera matured rum presents itself as a multi-layered spirit with an elegant balance. The artful wrapping of the bottle with the traditional petate band emphasises the Guatemalan origin and also makes the Ron Zacapa Centenario 1 litre a special bottling visually.

Flavour: Soft, full-bodied, sweetish spices, dark chocolate, sultanas, fine wood notes.

The Ron Zacapa Centenario Solera Gran Reserva is an excellent accompaniment to dark chocolate with a high cocoa content, caramelised nuts or a crème brûlée dessert. It also harmonises with mature hard cheese or a mild blue cheese, as its sweet and spicy structure creates an exciting contrast. This premium rum from Guatemala develops its depth particularly well with savoury dishes such as braised beef or duck breast with a fruity sauce. It also offers a balanced, long-lasting flavour experience on its own after a full-bodied dinner or as a fine base for an Old Fashioned with rum.
