The Hans Igler Vulcano Cuvée 2021 with 13.5% vol. in an elegant 1.5-litre magnum bottle is a red wine cuvée full of character from Central Burgenland that demonstrates an impressive balance of region and internationality. The grape varieties Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Zweigelt combine regional identity with international style and form a multi-layered, harmonious cuvée. The Pannonian climate, mineral soils and the meticulous work at Weingut Hans-Igler give the wine depth, structure and elegance.


The 2021 vintage is both powerful and balanced. The flavours of wild berries, vanilla and fine roasted notes combine with harmoniously integrated tannins to create a precise overall picture. The typical magnum maturity provides additional elegance and a decelerated development. With a storage potential of 10 years and a natural cork stopper, the Vulcano is ideal for special occasions. Overall, it is powerful, structured and has a long-lasting aromatic depth.

Tasting Note

Dark ruby-garnet colour with violet reflections and a delicate brightening of the rim. The nose reveals blackberries, wild berries, vanilla, a hint of nougat, candied orange zest, cocoa nuances and fine cassis notes. On the palate, the wine is juicy, taut and harmonious, accompanied by integrated tannins and a finely spiced structure. The finish is red berry flavoured, clear and long-lasting, carried by spicy and fruity depth.

The Vulcano Cuvée 2021 is an excellent accompaniment to steaks, game dishes, braised beef, rack of lamb, spicy mushroom dishes or Mediterranean dishes with herbs and roasted flavours. It also harmonises well with mature hard cheeses or hearty ragouts. The ideal drinking temperature is 18 °C. In the Magnum, it develops a special elegance and is ideal for parties, celebrations and enjoyable evenings with a long-lasting structure.
