This limited-edition premium spirit from Greece is created through the skilful combination of matured wine distillates, sweet muscatel wine from the island of Samos and carefully selected Mediterranean botanicals. Under the direction of the Metaxa Master, these components are first married together and then matured further in selected old oak barrels, resulting in a particularly complex and concentrated profile.


The speciality of this METAXA Single Cask Strength Edition lies in its maturation in the driest areas of METAXA's historic cellars, where the so-called "Angels' Treasure" phenomenon occurs. The natural evaporation concentrates the flavours in the cask particularly strongly, resulting in an intensely aromatic distillate. Only around 4,500 carafes can be bottled from a single barrel, making this limited edition Metaxa bottling a coveted rarity for connoisseurs. The result is an exceptionally complex Greek spirit that combines tradition, maturity and masterful barrel ageing.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep amber.

Nose: Seductively aromatic, ripe prunes, juicy dried figs, nutmeg, Ceylon cinnamon, Ingwerer, wild bee honey, caramel, delicate dried flower petals, noble old oak.

Flavour: Intense and multi-layered, sweet spices, nutmeg, white sultanas, grape syrup, fine paprika spice notes, harmonious and deeply structured.

Langs: Very long and elegant, warm honey notes, sweet spices, soft finish, long lasting.

This Metaxa Single Cask Strength rarity is ideal as a digestif after rich dishes such as lamb, game or matured beef and harmonises particularly well with desserts based on figs, honey, caramel or dark chocolate. It is also an excellent accompaniment to nut desserts, baklava or mature hard cheese. This premium spirit from Greece is best served neat at room temperature, which allows the complex structure and multi-layered flavours to unfold particularly intensively.
