Gérard Bertrand La Forge 2023 is an exceptional French red wine from the Languedoc region, created as an emotional and qualitative tribute to Georges Bertrand, Gérard Bertrand's father. La Forge comes from a unique plot of centuries-old Carignan vines, some of which are over 100 years old, complemented by old Syrah vines. The name La Forge comes from the land registry office and symbolises the natural alchemy of this terroir, where wood, water and soil work together in perfect balance.


This cuvée of Carignan and Syrah epitomises the essence of old vines and the uncompromising quality standards of Gérard Bertrand. The high ripeness of the grapes, the exceptional concentration and the natural tannin structure give this powerful red wine an impressive depth and an enormous ageing potential of up to 20 years. La Forge symbolises the pursuit of excellence that Gérard Bertrand learned from his father and presents itself as an unmistakable terroir wine that combines power, elegance and emotion. For optimum enjoyment, decanting and a serving temperature of around 18 °C are recommended to allow the full aromatic complexity of this great Languedoc red wine to unfold.

Tasting Note

The Gérard Bertrand La Forge 2023 has a dark, ripe cherry colour in the glass. The nose opens with an explosive bouquet with notes of roasted toast, spices and cloves. On the palate, the wine is very full-bodied with great richness and powerful yet elegant flavours reminiscent of jammy red fruits. The finish is spicy, softly structured and long-lasting.

The Gérard Bertrand La Forge 2023 is an ideal accompaniment to hearty dishes and Mediterranean cuisine. It is particularly harmonious with lamb dishes, grilled meat, beef steaks, game dishes or braised dishes with herbs and spices. This Carignan Syrah red wine also unfolds its full depth with Mediterranean dishes such as aubergine casserole, lamb ragout with rosemary or spicy meat dishes.
