Stauning SMOKE Floor Malted Smoked Barley Danish Single Malt Whisky 47% Vol. 0.7 l is a Danish single malt whisky full of character from the renowned Stauning Distillery, which is located on the windswept west coast of Denmark near Ringkøbing Fjord. The distillery stands for modern craft whisky from Denmark, with a focus on local raw materials, traditional craftsmanship and a strong awareness of terroir. Only 100% locally grown Danish barley is used for this Stauning SMOKE Danish single malt whisky, which is traditionally malted on malt floors directly at the distillery. The malt is then kilned over local peat and dried heather from the Stauning region. This combination creates a particularly mild, aromatic smoke structure that is more reminiscent of campfire smoke than medicinal peat smoke.


After malting, double distillation takes place in 24 small, direct-fired copper pot stills, resulting in a particularly aromatic and complex whisky. Stauning SMOKE Floor Malted Smoked Barley Danish Single Malt Whisky is then matured for around 5 to 6 years in a combination of first-fill bourbon casks, Madeira casks, Jamaican rum casks and heavily burnt new American oak casks. This variety of casks gives the whisky additional depth and an elegant balance of smoke, fruit and sweetness. This award-winning bottling is bottled at 47% vol., unfiltered and non-chill-filtered, which means that the structure and flavour density are fully preserved. Stauning SMOKE Danish Single Malt Whisky is considered one of the distillery's signature whiskies and impressively reflects the landscape and raw materials of the Danish North Sea coast.
