The distillery is located on the west coast of Denmark, where the harsh coastal climate, the surrounding grain fields and local raw materials shape the character of this Danish whisky. The name RØG, the Danish word for smoke, stands for a particularly balanced and gentle interpretation of smoke in the whisky world. Unlike many heavily peated bottlings, this smoked whisky pursues a deliberately harmonious style in which the smoke does not dominate but elegantly complements the other flavours. Stauning RØG Smoked Double Malt Danish Whisky combines single malt whisky and malted rye to create a unique double malt whisky with a typically Nordic interpretation of smoke and balance.


The production takes place entirely at the distillery: the barley and rye malt used is 100% malted on traditional malting floors and then kilned over local Danish peat and heather, creating a soft, bonfire-like smoke. Distillation is carried out twice in 24 small direct-fired copper pot stills before the whisky is matured in American oak casks and finished in Madeira casks. This combination ensures depth, balance and a particularly round structure. The whisky is bottled at 43% vol. and is not chill-filtered, ensuring that the structure, flavour and character are fully preserved.
