The Hunter Laing SCARABUS Cigar Malt Islay Single Malt is a characterful Islay single malt Scotch whisky, specially developed to accompany moments of intense enjoyment. At 46% ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle, this whisky combines the typical character of the island of Islay with powerful smoky notes, maritime influences and a balanced sweetness. The name Scarabus originates from 13th-century Old Norse and means ‘rocky place’. It also refers to a mystical area on Islay and emphasises the enigmatic character of this special whisky range.


The Scarabus brand deliberately focuses on mystery and discovery. Under the motto ‘Only those who seek will find’, the label and design draw on the work of the Islay-born scholar John Francis Campbell, who, amongst other things, developed the sun dial and collected numerous Celtic legends. Like all bottlings in the series, Scarabus Cigar Malt is bottled without chill filtration or colouring, at the characteristic drinking strength of 46% ABV. Its expressive profile combines classic Islay peat smoke with maritime freshness, vanilla sweetness and spicy leather notes to create a complex and harmonious tasting experience.
