Description
Description
The Tschermonegg Pinot Gris Leutschach Südsteiermark DAC 2025 combines the typical terroir of the Südsteiermark DAC with a precise and characterful style that will delight lovers of expressive Pinot Gris white wines. This Austrian DAC white wine hails from the renowned wine-growing region around Leutschach and impresses with its terroir-driven character, depth and elegant structure. Eight months’ ageing on the fine lees in large, used wooden barrels lends this Styrian Pinot Gris additional complexity, a fine texture and a harmonious balance between fruit, spice and minerality.
The Pinot Gris grape variety is expressed here in a particularly terroir-driven form. The wine is powerful yet precise, clearly reflecting its South Styrian origins. The combination of ageing on fine lees and in wooden barrels provides structure, density and a pleasantly creamy mouthfeel, without masking the freshness. With an alcohol content of 13 % vol., this Austrian white wine has lovely body and is suitable both for immediate enjoyment and for a few years’ ageing. The practical 1.5-litre magnum bottle is ideal for festive occasions, upmarket dinner parties or as an elegant accompaniment to meals for discerning connoisseurs. Thanks to the screw cap, the wine’s freshness is optimally preserved.
Tasting Note
In the glass, it displays a radiant golden-yellow colour with coppery highlights and high viscosity. On the nose, spicy herbal aromas unfold, accompanied by notes of yellow currants and delicate fruity nuances with a character typical of Southern Styria. On the palate, the wine is powerful, dense and juicy, with a clear structure, delicate herbal spice and yellow fruit. The finish is long, delicate and elegantly spicy, with a lingering aftertaste.
Acidity: 5.5 g/l
Residual sugar: 2.5 g/l
This Pinot Gris from Southern Styria pairs superbly with delicate poultry dishes such as guinea fowl breast with herb jus or roast chicken with root vegetables. It also pairs excellently with pan-fried salmon trout, char fillet or delicate fish dishes with creamy accompaniments. Vegetarian dishes such as pan-fried king oyster mushrooms on polenta, herb risotto or autumnal vegetable dishes also complement this wine’s spicy character perfectly. Served at 8–10 °C, this Südsteiermark DAC white wine reveals its elegant structure and aromatic depth in a particularly harmonious way.
