Description
Description
The Gérard Bertrand La Grande Bleue Méditerranée IGP 2025, 13% ABV, in a 0.75-litre bottle, is an elegant organic white wine from the south of France that embodies the freshness, minerality and joie de vivre of the Mediterranean region. Produced by Gérard Bertrand, this characterful cuvée reflects the beauty of the Mediterranean coastal landscape, where sunny days and the influence of the sea create a unique terroir. The name La Grande Bleue – the Great Blue – pays homage to the Mediterranean Sea, which has a decisive influence on the style of this wine.
The cuvée blends the southern French grape varieties Rolle (Vermentino), Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes are harvested during the coolest hours of the day to best preserve their natural freshness and aromatics. Each grape variety is vinified separately before the final blend is created. Temperature-controlled fermentation takes place exclusively in stainless steel tanks, whilst ageing in wood is deliberately avoided to preserve the purity of the fruit and the maritime freshness.
Particularly noteworthy is Gérard Bertrand’s commitment to sustainability and nature conservation. With this wine, the estate supports Oceana, the world’s largest marine conservation organisation, whose aim is to protect and preserve healthy and biodiverse oceans. This French organic white wine thus combines excellent flavour with a clear commitment to environmental awareness and sustainability.
Tasting Note
In the glass, the Gérard Bertrand La Grande Bleue Méditerranée IGP 2025 appears pale yellow with slightly greenish highlights. On the nose, aromas of pear, white peach, lemon and grapefruit unfold, complemented by delicate floral notes of hawthorn and white blossoms, as well as subtle exotic hints. On the palate, this cuvée of Rolle, Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc is lively and refreshing, with lovely minerality, fruity notes of peach and pear, and delicate citrus nuances. The finish is long and elegant, characterised by a delicate salty freshness reminiscent of a Mediterranean sea breeze.
The Gérard Bertrand La Grande Bleue Méditerranée IGP 2025 pairs superbly with oysters, mussels, grilled fish and seafood. This organic white wine from France is also an excellent choice with Mediterranean salads, goat’s cheese, antipasti or vegetarian dishes with fresh herbs. As an aperitif, it impresses with its freshness and lightness. Served well chilled at 8–10 °C, this Méditerranée IGP white wine perfectly showcases its maritime elegance, fruity aromas and Mediterranean character.
