Description
Description
The Gérard Bertrand Côte des Roses Pinot Noir 2024 13.5% is an elegant French red wine from the Languedoc, made from 100% Pinot Noir and reflecting the Mediterranean lifestyle of the Côte des Roses Linie. The grapes come from the region’s coolest high-altitude vineyards, where the grape variety is able to retain its characteristic freshness despite the hot, windy Mediterranean climate. The diverse soils consist mainly of hard garrigue limestone, slate and alluvial gravel. The grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness in late September, with controlled yields promoting good concentration and an elegant tannin structure. After destemming, a 10- to 15-day maceration takes place, whilst pigeage and remontage ensure gentle extraction.
Part of the 2024 Côte des Roses Pinot Noir is then aged for several months in 225-litre barrels, adding further complexity without overshadowing the varietal elegance typical of Pinot Noir. The wine is deliberately crafted to offer finesse, balance and the potential to be enjoyed relatively early. A distinctive feature is the extraordinary Côte des Roses bottle with its rose-shaped base, designed by a graduate of the École Boulle in Paris. This makes the 0.75-litre bottle not only a stylish Pinot Noir from France, but also an excellent choice as a wine gift. With an alcohol content of 13.5 per cent, the 2024 vintage combines a Mediterranean character with the refined, sophisticated style of this international grape variety.
Tasting Note
In the glass, the Gérard Bertrand Côte des Roses Pinot Noir 2024 displays a brilliant ruby red colour. On the nose, fresh sour cherries and wild raspberries unfold, accompanied by subtle spicy notes. On the palate, the Pinot Noir is round and fruit-forward, with a velvety texture, lovely body and supple, silky tannins. The finish is elegant, balanced and characterised by lingering finesse.
The Côte des Roses Pinot Noir 2024 is at its best when served at a temperature of 15–16 °C. It pairs superbly with roasted or grilled meat, chicken tagine and mature cheeses. This elegant Pinot Noir from the Languedoc is also a suitable choice to accompany duck breast, veal or mushroom dishes. Thanks to its silky tannins and balanced structure, it is equally well suited to a Mediterranean dinner or as a stylish red wine for social occasions.
