This 12-year-old Speyside single malt Scotch whisky spends its entire maturation period exclusively in carefully selected first-fill sherry casks, allowing the influence of the casks to come through particularly intensely. Rather than undergoing secondary finishing, the focus here is on full sherry cask maturation, combining lush fruit with spices, oak and the subtle smokiness typical of Benromach. At 46% ABV and without chill filtration, the Benromach 12 Years Old Sherry Cask Matured retains its natural texture and expressive cask character. Tasting Note

Colour: Gold.

Nose: Spicy, with notes of cinnamon buns and stewed raisins, followed by ginger and butterscotch, as well as citrus notes, cocoa powder and a hint of smoke.

Palate: Rich, with fruit cake, orange and raspberry, complemented by freshly ground pepper, toasted oak and subtle smoke.

Finish: Medium-length and spicy with blackcurrant, delicate menthol and a hint of smoke.

The Benromach 12 Years Old Exclusively Sherry Cask Matured is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at around 18 to 20 °C, although a few drops of still water can bring out additional fruit and spice notes. It pairs well with mature hard cheeses, roast beef, game dishes or roasted walnuts, which provide sufficient structure to balance the whisky’s robust sherry cask character. For desserts, fruit tarts, dark chocolate, raspberry desserts or pastries with raisins and cinnamon pair particularly well.
