The Speyburn Hopkins Reserve Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a travel-exclusive bottling from the historic Speyburn Distillery in Speyside, Scotland. The distillery was founded in 1897 by John Hopkins, whose name is honoured with this special bottling. Speyburn is situated near Rothes in the heart of Speyside and is known for an approachable, fruit-forward and malty single malt style. The Hopkins Reserve is based on malted barley, which is distilled in copper pot stills using traditional methods. The whisky is then given the necessary time during its cask maturation to allow the characteristic cereal, fruit and spice notes to blend together.

As a Speyburn Travel Exclusive single malt, the Hopkins Reserve also stands out thanks to its generous 1-litre bottle size. With an alcohol content of 46 per cent, it is bottled at a higher strength than many classic standard bottlings and thus possesses a pronounced structure. The name Hopkins Reserve also establishes a direct link to the distillery’s history and its founder. Tasting Note

Colour: Gold with warm amber highlights.

Nose: Fresh and well-balanced with floral notes, sweet malt and ripe fruit, accompanied by subtle hints of grain.

Palate: Full-bodied and harmonious with sweet grain, malt and notes of ripe fruit, complemented by an increasingly spicy element.

Finish: Long-lasting and pleasantly warming with subtle spice, malt and a gentle, lingering fruit sweetness.

The Speyburn Hopkins Reserve is best enjoyed neat at around 18 to 20 °C, although a few drops of still water can further enhance the fruity and malty notes. It pairs well with mild to medium-strength hard cheeses, roasted almonds and walnuts, and air-dried ham. Desserts featuring apple, pear, vanilla or lightly caramelised nuts also complement the fruity, malty Speyside style well.
