Flor de Caña 7 Years Old GRAN RESERVA Slow Aged Rum 37.5% is a rum aged for seven years in Nicaragua, produced on the Flor de Caña family estate at the foot of the active San Cristóbal volcano. The company’s history dates back to 1890 and is now being carried on by the fifth generation. For the Gran Reserva, the rum is aged for seven years in American white oak casks, which gives it its distinctive depth and full-bodied character. Flor de Caña relies on natural ageing in its production process and, according to the company, uses no added sugar, artificial flavours or additives. Distillation is also carried out using 100 per cent renewable energy.

The Flor de Caña Gran Reserva 7 Years combines long cask ageing with a robust yet balanced style and is available in this version with an alcohol content of 37.5 per cent in a 0.7-litre bottle. Ageing in American white oak imparts mature cask, vanilla and toasted aromas to the rum, whilst darker chocolate and fruit notes lend it additional depth. Flor de Caña is one of Nicaragua’s most traditional rum producers, combining its long family history with a clear focus on sustainable production. This 7-year-old Nicaraguan rum, with no added sugar, is ideal both for enjoying neat and as a high-quality base for classic long drinks and rum cocktails.

Flor de Caña 7 Years Old GRAN RESERVA is best enjoyed neat at around 18 to 20 °C, on the rocks, or as the base for premium long drinks. It pairs particularly well with soda, mineral water or ginger ale, whilst a twist of orange zest further enhances the fruity and vanilla notes. It pairs well with dark chocolate, roasted nuts and desserts featuring coconut, figs or caramel. The seven-year-old’s cask character also comes into its own in a Rum Old Fashioned or a stronger highball.
