Licor 43, regarded worldwide as Spain’s best-selling premium liqueur, is based on a closely guarded recipe that has been passed down from generation to generation within the family. It combines a selection of exotic fruits with aromatic herbs and is rounded off with a subtle hint of vanilla. This versatile liqueur has been produced continuously since 1924 by the Diego Zamora S.A. distillery in Cartagena. The recipe, which looks back on a history spanning more than 200 years, embodies a time-honoured tradition of craftsmanship and pays tribute to the expertise of baristas.

Carefully selected spices, herbs and Mediterranean citrus fruits are used in the production of Licor 43 Cuarenta y Tres Original. These ingredients are macerated in water-alcohol mixtures using a special process and then blended in precisely balanced proportions. The ageing process for Licor 43 Original takes place over a period of six to nine months in stainless-steel tanks, with the exact duration determined by the experts at Licor 43 based on the desired flavour profile. To fine-tune the mild flavour, the liqueur is stored in a cold room at approximately -5 °C. A final microfiltration process removes the tiniest particles, giving the liqueur its characteristic golden colour.

The result is a liqueur of exceptional quality with a distinctive, mellow flavour that makes Licor 43 Cuarenta y Tres Original a true delight.

Tasting Note

Nose: Refreshing citrus notes, spicy coriander.

Palate: Sweetish, orange and lemon blossom, citrus peel, vanilla notes, spicy coriander.

Finish: Long-lasting.

Although Licor 43 is a delight when enjoyed neat on the rocks, its well-balanced flavours also come into their own in a wide variety of cocktails.
