Description
Description
Etsu Gin, which means ‘pleasure’ in Japanese, is the name of an exceptional gin from Japan, produced on the island of Hokkaido according to a closely guarded recipe. Hokkaido, the northernmost of Japan’s main islands, is best known for its natural beauty, featuring volcanoes, hot springs and ski resorts.
Etsu Gin Double Yuzu is produced at the Akita Distillery in Akita Prefecture, situated on the island of Honshu in Japan. The Akita region, known for its location on the coast of the Sea of Japan and near the Ou Mountains, provides the fresh and bright flavours that characterise this gin.
The production process for this gin begins with a seven-day maceration using a selection of traditional botanicals, including Japanese yuzu, juniper berries, liquorice root, angelica, coriander and matcha. These botanicals are removed after maceration, and the gin is then distilled to concentrate the aromatic oils. Following distillation, fresh mountain water is added to bring the gin to the desired strength and give it its fresh flavour.
This limited-edition bottling is renowned for its pronounced citrus notes and the use of natural ingredients.
