Vinification involves selective hand-picking, 16 hours of maceration, spontaneous fermentation in used French barriques and a five-month fermentation period. This is followed by around four months on the full lees, a further twelve months on the fine lees and storage in a 3,000-liter wooden barrel. This combination of traditional craftsmanship and careful ageing gives the wine structure, depth and a clear character of origin. With a storage potential of around 10 years, Leithaberg Veltliner is one of the longest-lived white wines in the region.
