Description
Description
The Lustau ME Moscatel EMILÍN Jerez-Xérès-Sherry is an expressive Moscatel sherry from the historic region of Jerez de la Frontera and ranks amongst the most distinctive sweet sherries produced by Lustau Emilio. This cuvée is made entirely from Moscatel grapes sourced exclusively from the renowned Las Cruces vineyard in Chipiona, a coastal site known for producing particularly aromatic and concentrated Moscatel grapes. The proximity to the Atlantic and the intense hours of sunshine have a lasting influence on the unmistakable style of this wine. The sherry matures oxidatively for over eight years in Lustau’s traditional bodegas, developing remarkable depth and a harmonious balance of sweetness and freshness.
With an alcohol content of 17 per cent, this Jerez-Xérès-Sherry is soft, complex and elegant, without ever seeming heavy. The ME Moscatel EMILÍN epitomises the fine art of sherry production in Andalusia and impressively demonstrates just how expressive a single-varietal Moscatel sherry from Spain can be. The long ageing period lends it complexity, structure and a long-lasting finish that will delight both connoisseurs and lovers of sweet wines alike. This sherry combines its origin, varietal character and traditional ageing to create an authentic overall experience.
Tasting Note
Deep mahogany in the glass. On the nose, floral aromas of blossoms and citrus fruits. On the palate, sweet, complex and smooth, with intense flavours of dried fruit and delicate spices. The finish is long-lasting and characterised by a harmonious interplay of acidity and sweetness.
Acidity: 5.5 g/l
Residual sugar: More than 200 g/l
The Lustau ME Moscatel EMILÍN is an excellent accompaniment to desserts based on dried fruit, nuts or caramel, such as date cake, nut strudel or crème brûlée. It also pairs very harmoniously with blue-veined cheese or mature hard cheese, where the sweetness and savoury notes create an exciting contrast. This sweet Moscatel sherry is equally excellent with dark chocolate or as the perfect finish to a meal. Served at a recommended temperature of 10 to 12 °C, it reveals its aromatic depth in a particularly balanced way and is also ideal as a wine for quiet moments of enjoyment.
