Sibona GRAPPA RISERVA botti da TENNESSEE WHISKEY is an exceptional Grappa Riserva from Piedmont, with an alcohol content of 44 per cent, supplied in a 0.5-litre bottle with gift packaging. The long-established Distilleria Sibona uses pomace from freshly harvested grapes – selected during the grape harvest itself – primarily from the Dolcetto and Arneis grape varieties. Distillation takes place entirely on-site in copper stills under the supervision of experienced oenologists and master distillers. The grappa is then initially aged for an extended period in stainless steel tanks. This is followed by two years’ maturation in medium-sized barrels made of classic oak, which forms the basis for the subsequent exceptional barrel ageing.


In the second stage of maturation, the Sibona Grappa Riserva spends a further two years in ex-Tennessee whisky casks, which Sibona sources directly from Tennessee in the USA and in which whisky from renowned distilleries was previously matured. In total, the grappa thus achieves a wood-maturation period of four years. Sibona regards this unusual use of Tennessee whisky casks for grappa as one of its own innovative cask projects. The ex-whisky casks impart notes of malt, vanilla and spices in particular, lending the Riserva a distinctive character.

Tasting Note

Colour: Amber.

Nose: Harmonious and intense, with pronounced malty notes, vanilla and subtle hints of liquorice.

Palate: Refined and complex with vanilla, spicy oak notes and a harmonious blend of Grappa and Tennessee whisky influences.

Finish: Long-lasting with distinct notes of vanilla and orange.

The Sibona Grappa Riserva botti da Tennessee Whiskey is best served at around 18 °C in a classic tulip glass or a bulbous cognac glass. It pairs well with dried fruit, walnuts and almonds, as well as chocolate and various desserts, which harmonise particularly well with the vanilla and malt notes. Mature cheese is also highly recommended, as its intense flavour stands up to the grappa’s robust oak character. This four-year-old, wood-aged Riserva is also a fitting choice to accompany a cigar, making it an excellent digestif after a hearty meal.
