Since 1999, the Slyrs distillery has been producing the first and only Upper Bavarian single malt whisky that is produced using the classic rough and fine distillation process. The name "Slyrs" is a pseudo-Gaelic variation of "Schliersee", the distillery's home town, and reflects the regional ties and traditional craftsmanship that are expressed in every drop of this whisky.

The name of the Slyrs Fifty One single malt whisky refers to the striking 51% vol. that gives this whisky its characterful expression. Maturation begins in new American white oak casks with a volume of 225 litres. In addition, barrels in which sherry, port wine or Sauternes were previously stored are used for the Fifty One to give the whisky a special depth and complexity.

After maturing in the Upper Bavarian mountain climate, the cask strength is adjusted to drinking strength with pure mountain spring water. Slyrs Fifty One is neither coloured nor cold-filtered, which preserves its natural purity and authenticity.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark gold with an amber sheen.

Nose: Complex with dried fruit, honey, toasted oak and fine wine aromas.

Flavour: Full-bodied and powerful with notes of dark caramel, dried fruit, spices, vanilla and subtle sweetness from the different types of cask.

Finish: Langs, spicy and warm with subtle fruitiness and oak notes.

Slyrs Fifty One is ideal for pure enjoyment at room temperature, but can also be opened with a few drops of water to bring out its cask diversity even more. Ideal for whisky lovers who appreciate strong and characterful bottlings. It is an excellent culinary accompaniment to grilled beef, game with cranberry jus, strong mountain cheese or dark chocolate with orange zest. It is also a harmonious accompaniment to a Bavarian cheese platter with nuts and dried fruit. A statement whisky from Bavaria with international stature.
