Hapsburg Absinthe QUARTIER LATIN Flavoured with Black Forest Berries 53.5% vol. 0.5 l
Prohibition… Hallucinogenic… Mythical… Controversial…
Perhaps that was once the case, but today absinthe is not just a drink, but a way of life with a rich heritage, steeped in intrigue.
Hapsburg Absinthe has perfected its collection to offer a range of wonderful absinthe experiences that are unique, imaginative and superbly flavoured.
The Hapsburg Absinthe Quartier Latin range is a celebration of the vibrant bohemian lifestyle of Paris’s Quartier Latin. Absinthe’s popularity rose rapidly during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly amongst Parisian artists and writers such as Baudelaire and Lautrec, who featured absinthe in their works. Today, the Latin Quarter in Paris, situated on the left bank of the Seine, is as lively as ever, with a large student population and numerous cafés and bistros where absinthe continues to be enjoyed.
Type: Less strongly flavoured.
Flavour: Fruity & fresh.
Tasting Note
Colour: Black.
Nose: Intense aromas of dark wild berries such as blackberries and blackcurrants, accompanied by a delicate hint of aniseed and the classic herbs of absinthe.
Palate: Complex and full-bodied, with a wonderful balance between the fruitiness of the wild berries and the characteristic bitterness of absinthe. The herbal notes of wormwood and fennel blend harmoniously with the fruity accents, resulting in a thoroughly balanced flavour.
Finish: Long and spicy, with a pleasantly bitter aftertaste that subtly enhances the wild berry notes and herbs.
Hapsburg Absinthe Quartier Latin is ideal as a base for adventurous cocktails such as a classic absinthe sour or as an ingredient in an ‘absinthe frappe’. But the absinthe also unfolds its fascinating aromas when served neat over ice. It pairs particularly well with strong, mature cheeses such as Roquefort or a full-flavoured Brie. Those with a sweet tooth can also enjoy the absinthe with chocolate
