El Ron Prohibido Solera 15 Gran Reserva Finest Blended Mexican Rum is an exclusive, premium rum produced in Mexico, with a long and fascinating history. The name El Ron Prohibido (The Forbidden Rum) dates back to the 18th century, when the so-called Chinguirito rum – a distillate made from Mexican sugar cane, which was aged in sherry casks and shipped to Spain – was banned by the Spanish royal family because it posed too great a threat to traditional European rum producers.

The Solera 15 Gran Reserva is matured using the tried-and-tested Solera method, in which younger rums are blended with older vintages to ensure a consistently high quality. Ageing for over 15 years in oak casks previously used for sherry gives it its exceptional depth, smooth texture and an incomparably complex flavour profile.

Colour: Deep mahogany with reddish highlights.

Finish: Long-lasting, warm and silky, with a perfect balance of sweet and spicy nuances.
