The Royal Oporto Tawny Port 19% ABV 0.75 l is a classic port wine from the historic Real Companhia Velha, which was founded in 1756 and is now one of Portugal’s oldest wineries. With over 250 years’ experience in the Douro Valley, the winery stands for authenticity, quality and craftsmanship. The Royal Oporto Tawny is an elegant blend of the Douro’s traditional red grape varieties – including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and Tinto Cão.


Its name ‘Tawny’ refers to the ageing process in small oak casks, in which the wine matures over several years. Through oxidative ageing, it develops its characteristic amber colour and an aromatic complexity that distinguishes it from Ruby Ports. The result is a harmonious, smooth and aromatic port that combines fruitiness and nutty notes in perfect balance. The Royal Oporto Tawny embodies the house’s classic style and offers the utmost enjoyment – both on its own and as a versatile accompaniment.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Royal Oporto Tawny displays a warm amber colour with reddish-golden highlights. On the nose, aromas of dried fruit, raisins and figs unfold, accompanied by subtle notes of nuts and caramel. On the palate, it is smooth, round and well-balanced, with a delicate sweetness, an elegant structure and a long, aromatic finish.

Royal Oporto Tawny Port is ideal as a digestif and is best served slightly chilled at around 12–16 °C. It pairs excellently with chocolate- or nut-based desserts, such as brownies, walnut cake or crème brûlée. It is equally delightful paired with mature cheeses – particularly blue cheeses. It is also an excellent choice with dried fruit or a selection of fine chocolates. Thanks to its versatility, it can also be wonderfully incorporated into port-based cocktails, making it a modern accompaniment for special moments of indulgence.
