The Macallan Edition No. 4 is part of Macallan’s famous Edition series, which demonstrates the influence of different casks on the whisky through maturation. Whilst the previous three editions in the series highlighted the impact on aroma and flavour through the choice of casks, Master Distiller Nick Savage selected seven different cask types for Edition No. 4 to reveal the whisky’s structure.

For the maturation process, refill butts and refill hogsheads made from American and European oak, Vasyma hogsheads and Diego Martin Rosado butts (sherry casks), Jose Y Miguel Martin butts and Tevasa butts/puncheons (sherry and wine casks), as well as Tevasa hogsheads. The careful selection and combination of these cask types highlights the whisky’s complex structure and depth, making Edition No. 4 a unique and multifaceted tasting experience.

Tasting Note

Colour: Rich, dark gold.

Nose: Light, honey, hints of citrus, caramel, a touch of oak.

Palate: Fruity and sweet, with hints of spices, plums, raisins, nuts and soft oak.

Finish: Long-lasting, fruity.
